We are an Equal Employment Opportunity employer and must log in all applicants, the receptionist will be able to tell you if your application has been received. After we have received the application it is forwarded to the appropriate department manager for review. If your application meets our needs the department manager will notify you.

While it is only February, it does seem like spring is very close.  What a mild winter we've had!   Being able to continue working through out the winter is extremely unusual for our industry here in New York.  Most of the RCI-NY and MES-NY employees are laid off, but we still have an active Rifenburg Contracting crew in Pittsfield working on the airport.  An RCC crew is also still on location at the Nanocenter project off Washington Ave. Extension in Albany.  And of course our mechanics are really hard at work bringing all equipment up to peak working conditions.  Park East has a lot of steel out there to keep our jobs (and us) productive.

This time of year, while most of the field staff is enjoying a much deserved vacation, the staff still on duty are laying the groundwork for another busy season.  Work and preparation is continuing on the Thruway project in expectation of shutting down one side of traffic to begin reconstruction of the south bound lanes.  Rifenburg Construction is also contributing to NYS nano projects.  Previously RCI completed the access roads for the Luther Forest project in Malta NY.  Most recently we've been working on the Edic Road access for the nano project underway in Oneida County.  Development of plans for several other projects are also continuing apace!

And of course February is a big month to update everyone on safety training.  Superintendent and foreman training was on the 3.rd  First aid and CPR on the 15th & 16th.  OSHA 30 school was Feb. 6-9 and again Feb. 20-23.  Flagger certification was held on the13th.  Three groups were trained on GPS locators on the 14th.  HAZWOP refresher was on February 17th at Marcy.  Small group specialty coursework will continue on Feb. 27 and 29.  It has been a full month of training, and we aren't done yet.

We are looking forward to our combined companies annual safety meeting on Monday, March 5, 2012 at the Troy Hilton Garden.  Our headline speaker is Ray Evernham -Crew Chief for Jeff Gordon's winning NASCAR team- addressing us all on the importance of TEAMWORK!  We have a great team at Rifenburg and are really pleased to note that our safety rating this year is down to .64.  That is an amazing and astonishingly low number for a heavy highway construction firm.  Not only does it mean we are watching out for each other, but also helps keep our bid costs lower and more competitive.  Congratulations to all employees!  Let's keep it up - or I should say Down!

We had a terrific Annual Holiday Party on January 14th at the Franklin Plaza Ballroom in downtown Troy.  The weather was a little cold (for this unusually mild year), but the snow held off and we had no weather travel issues.  It was a terrific evening of socializing and dancing to The Refrigerators to celebrate the new year.   We were especially pleased to wish George Rifenburg a Happy 70th Birthday!

After the March Safety meeting our next company event will be the HeartWalk at the Crossings in Colonie.  Usually held in October, the Heart Association moved it to May 12th this year.   We are hopeful for some lovely spring weather to complete our walk.   Be watching for the mailing asking for your participation in this great cause.

The great weather has us looking forward to the start of the season in earnest.  We have yet to see what March will bring, but if this keeps up, we hope to be out on our jobsites sooner rather than later.  See you at the Safety Meeting!
